Paris Fashion, Fashion Show In Paris France

Published: January 25, 2007

October 1, 2006 through October 9, 2006 may have been just another passing week to the average person, but to the fashion world it was one of the most hyped weeks of the year. Editors, designers, celebrities and other VIPs flocked to the epicenter of fashion located in Paris, France, to admire the newest, hottest fashion trends before they reach the streets.

Paris fashion is the most hailed fashion in the world. Evident in the haute couture, fashion shows and couturiers is the artistic expression of fashion. Paris fashion is an art form that is mainly showcased during Paris fashion week . For 7 days designers are able to display their collections, which they have been painstakingly developing since the previous year's fashion week.

Paris fashion shows are held in esteemed locales such as the Cour Carrée and Cour Napoléon in the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries. A Paris fashion show has one seemingly obvious purpose: to sell a designer's clothing. Previously, Paris fashion shows were developed to promote haute couture, and to bring together vendors, consumers, haute couture clients and select retailers.

Today, Paris fashion is much more complicated. The seating for Paris fashion shows is exclusive and is is not open to the public. The participating designers hold the master key to the guest list. Designers may invite major celebrities and socialites, as well as buyers and important media figures to promote their latest fashion designs.

Marketing professionals analyze trends in order to maximize sales. Major designers are invited to host a show, but they are most certainly not required to do so. Lesser-known designers can use this opportunity to get their designs out to the right people. The perk for designers is to create awareness of their latest lines in order to boost sales for their company.

Paris fashion designs on display cannot be bought immediately from the designers. The reason being is that most of the designs showcased will not be produced in quantity for a few months. Instead, when a celebrity or other VIP sees an item that he or she cannot live without, a phone call is made to a department store and and an order is placed in advance.

The major theme for the 2007 Paris Fashion Show  was dreamy and romantic. The fashion shows in Paris could send any onlooker into a fantasy for warmer temperatures. The runways were full of romantic styles coupled with soft, flirty fabrics and subdued pastel colors. Everything, including the makeup, was subtle and feminine.

Featured Paris fashion week designers included Marc Jacobs, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen. Marc Jacobs construed his personal take on the romantic aura by using subtle colors and dreamy fabrics such as tulle, but coupled it with unexpected touches, such as bias-tape drawstrings. Galliano focused on the element of surprise, using Fabergé eggs as his muse for color, Pop Art by Roy Lichtenstein for design, and focused his profile on Grecian goddesses. Meanwhile, McQueen opted for his familiar spin on fashion, which included exotic designs and Mexican folk dress

New arrivals for Paris fashion 2007 will be Tumi's entrance into the women's fashion accessories market. Tumi began as a menswear business and travel company, and is notorious for well-constructed ballistic nylon suitcases and laptop bags, yet now hopes to branch out and compete with Tod's and the like. Debut collections for spring 2007 will include Signature, Elements and Vista.

It is truly going to be an exciting year in fashion. Be on the look out for up-and-coming designers who will be making names for themselves this year. Hit the stores soon to catch a small peek at what spring holds without the costly trip to Paris. One glance at the Paris fashion trends will have everyone daydreaming about wearing the perfect clothes on that cruise they have always wanted to take.
