How To Dress With Accessories

No matter how stylish the outfit, the look will not be complete until you find the perfect accessories.
How you wear jewelry says as much about you as your outfit. You can wear jewelry to dress up or you can go low-key and wear minimalist accessories. Jewelry’s best asset is its ability to freshen up any outdated outfit. In fact, as seasons and trends change, jewelry and accessories are your best bet to transition into new trends without becoming a fashion victim.
Materials
When it comes to the material from which your accessories are made, the sky is the limit. There are plenty of accessories to complement your outfit, suit your style and match your budget.
Do not deny it; diamonds really are a girl’s best friend. If you want the diamond look without the price, try cubic zirconia. Pearls also should be on every girl's accessory list. And then there's metal – silver, gold, copper and platinum. Look around and find what best suits your style and your budget.
Earrings
The pair of earrings you choose to wear depends on the look you are trying to convey. For example, if you want to exude class and sophistication, try a pair of diamond or pearl drop earrings. If you mean to go all out luxurious, then don a pair of chandelier earrings. A simple pair of gold or silver hoops is an accessory staple. Just make sure your necklace and earrings are not fighting for attention. Overusing accessories looks gaudy and unkempt.
Though your necklace and earrings do not have to match in color or material, they should complement one another. For example, if you are wearing a rope of pearls, it is best to keep the earrings understated. Likewise, a pair of elaborate chandelier earrings will require a minimalist necklace.
Necklaces
A necklace is not only a necklace when you think about what it accents – your décolletage, collar bone, neck and breasts. This is a sensual part of the body, yet it is often overlooked with no accessories at all, or it becomes buried in layers.
Also keep in mind the kind of top you will be wearing when deciding how long or short the necklace should be:
Collar: This necklace sits at the throat and looks best with boatneck tops.
Chokers: This necklace lies snugly at the base of the neck. Wear it with a strapless dress or top.
Princess-length: These necklaces have an extremely versatile length (17 to 19 inches) falling below the throat. These will accentuate décolletage when worn with v-neck or plunging necklines.
Matinee-length: Longer necklaces like these (20 to 24 inches) look best piled on over crew-neck tops, since they fall above the breast. Do not wear this long and lovely necklace with a plunging top; it will only fall into your cleavage!
Opera-length: This length (28 to 34 inches) falls at the breastbone and looks sophisticated when paired with a high-neckline or turtleneck.
Rope: Anything longer than 34 inches.
